"The biggest opportunity is: You don’t need a lot of resources to run an initiative in Africa. You can make a huge impact with less resources. Challenges that most African countries face are similar, you can easily scale your solution to many more countries,"  shares Ariane.

More about our Africa initiative

The Zicklin Center for Business Ethics Research at the Wharton School, University of Pennsylvania, and its many partners are issuing a call for proposals for a new initiative: Building Capacity to Combat COVID-19 in Africa: Ideas and Innovations from Young Entrepreneurs (https://zicklincenter.wharton.upenn.edu/).

The initiative is open to students and young professionals (ages 18 to 35 years old) from around the world interested in offering innovative ideas for an effective private and public sector response to the COVID-19 pandemic in countries throughout Africa.

Participants are asked to develop ideas related to policy changes, startups, technology or community-based initiatives. Participants should submit their proposal through the initiative's website: https://www.africacovidchallengei4a.com/. The details for the submission requirements may be found on the website. Following submission, proposals will be reviewed based on their significance, originality, feasibility and clarity. Active support and mentorship will be provided, along with feedback and networking opportunities. Teams will also be featured on our website, providing a broader platform for engagement. Teams that need assistance identifying additional team members can access the 'Summary Note' form on the website, indicating the summary of their idea and the additional skills or capacities they are looking for in a team member.

The proposals will be reviewed and offered feedback on a rolling first come, first served basis, starting June 1 2020. If you need our support in identifying new team members and finalizing your ideas, please contact us and send the summary of your idea (petkoski@wharton.upenn.edu) by June 20, 2020.

For further details, please see the guidelines for submission here.
