Recent Highlights
Legislative Update: U.S. Congress Funds World Bank
The Bretton Woods Committee applauds Congressional passage of the FY2018 Omnibus spending bill on March 23 which authorizes a three-year replenishment of $3.291 billion to fund the World Bank’s International Development Association (IDA), and appropriates $1.097 billion in FY2018. The Bretton Woods Committee has worked diligently to shore up U.S. Congressional support for funding at these levels, and the bill’s passage marks a victory toward ensuring the World Bank can continue its work in the world’s poorest countries. Thank you again to all Bretton Woods Committee members and friends who supported our IDA18 outreach efforts, and a special thanks to our Legislative Task Force: Jim Kolbe, Tony Fratto, Bill Frymoyer, Whitney Debevoise, Kent Hughes and Dan Runde!

Global Development Dialogue: The IFC's Role in the Future of Development Finance
On Wednesday, January 31, 2018 a small group of Bretton Woods Committee members participated in a private roundtable discussion with senior officials from the International Finance Corporation (IFC), the private sector lending arm of the World Bank Group (WBG). The dialogue afforded IFC an opportunity to gather timely input from a cross-section of the Committee’s public, private, and multilateral leaders on the IFC’s new strategic framework or “IFC 3.0,” which is aimed to complement President Jim Yong Kim’s vision for the World Bank Group as a catalyst for market-based solutions to meet global development challenges. Views from the Members
In this section, individual members share their perspective on specific issues with the broader Committee membership. Views expressed below are from individual Members and do not reflect any viewpoint of the Bretton Woods Committee.
As new technologies and shifting demographics put pressure on both advanced and developing economies, what can policymakers, the private sector, and international financial institutions do to encourage greater economic inclusiveness and investment in human capital in order to meet the demands of the future of work?
