Welcome to the March 2018 edition of Sajid Javid MP's newsletter
WELCOME
In February I hosted my record-breaking 4th Annual Bromsgrove Jobs Fair which saw more than 1,000 people descend on North Bromsgrove High School.

Over 70 local organisations, businesses and entrepreneurs were in attendance, offering thousands of career opportunities to local people.

Thank you to our brilliant local businesses whose dedication and enthusiasm made the day such a success. The feedback has been great, and some of our jobseekers have already made successful applications.
Finally, I'm pleased that since I was first elected in 2010, unemployment in Bromsgrove has been more than halved, but there is still more to do.

It's important for me to hear your comments, thoughts, and feedback, so please don't hesitate to contact me.

Kind regards,

Sajid Javid
Member of Parliament for Bromsgrove
RECENT ACTIVITY
The Jobs Fair was a great day for exhibitors and jobseekers alike.

We welcomed all 3 Armed Forces, Jaguar Land Rover and HSBC, as well as a wide range of impressive local companies including Gough Bailey Wright, The Artrix and Curo Chartered Accountants.
The Fair also saw start-up specialists Blue Orchid host a Dragon’s Den style Entrepreneurs Hub, with specialist advisors on hand to help aspiring entrepreneurs put together a business plan, secure funding and hone their start-up skills.
It's nearly a year on from the launch of our Midlands Engine Strategy and this month I had the pleasure of speaking at the Midlands Engine Investment Fund.

I'm absolutely committed to making the Midlands a powerful engine for economic growth.  We've achieved so much over the last 12 months, and there's much more to come.

It was a pleasure to speak at the West Midlands Conservative Conference on the 3rd of February.  I joined the West Midlands Mayor, Andy Street to speak to delegates about the enormous value of the Midlands to the UK economy.

We recently celebrated Vote 100, marking 100 years since the Representation of the People Act.  This gave all men over 21 and some women over 30 the right to vote for the first time.

I spent the day thinking about how far we have come thanks to the extreme bravery of the women who fought for equality.

However, there is still more to do. I look forward to working with people across Bromsgrove to ensure we create an even more equal society.

Despite the snow, last week we celebrated World Book Day. It was great to hear of schools across Bromsgrove getting involved in such a great initiative.  Bromsgrove & Catshill Library went the extra mile and gave a free book to those who turned up dressed as their favourite book character!

I firmly believe in the campaign's aim to promote and celebrate reading for all ages.  Books really do provide milestones for moments in our lives.  Treasure Island was one of my favourite books as a child.
