Details at: One Year to Go to the UN 75 Summit: Innovating Global Governance for 21st Century Challenges

With the recent adoption of a UN General Assembly resolution on the consultative process toward a declaration for the 75th anniversary commemoration of the United Nations and an associated Leaders Summit, in September 2020 in New York, the time is ripe to contribute innovative ideas and diverse perspectives and to begin to give greater definition to the UN@75 theme of “The future we want, the United Nations we need: reaffirming our collective commitment to multilateralism."

This UNGA side event will consider novel approaches to improve global governance -- from reducing the threat of climate change and promoting peace and security to improving conditions for Sustainable Development Goals implementation and safeguarding human rights — in the year leading up to the UN@75 Summit. It will present the findings and recommendations from two recently developed action plans from multi-stakeholder Global Policy Dialogues on Global Security, Justice, and Economic Institutions (June 2019) and Preventive Action, Sustaining Peace, and Global Governance (December 2018).”
