ROADMAP OF ACTIONS FOR FIJI’S METEOROLOGICAL SERVICE: REPORT
Fiji’s National Adaptation Plan includes “climate information services and management” as one of its five priority themes, calling for enhanced meteorological and hydrological infrastructure and technical capacity. The NAP Global Network supported the Fiji Meteorological Service (FMS) to develop a roadmap of actions needed for sustainable development to ensure that the FMS can meet the needs and demands of the government and the public. FIVE WAYS NAPS CAN SUPPORT THE GENDER ACTION PLAN 
One bright spot at COP25 was the adoption of an Enhanced Lima Work Programme on Gender and its Gender Action Plan (GAP). In our latest blog, we identify five key ways that NAP processes can support implementation of the GAP over the next five years.
 
GAMBIA HOSTS TRAINING OF TRAINERS FOR INTEGRATING GENDER INTO ADAPTATION PLANNING
In order to build local capacities on gender, climate change adaptation and the linkages between the two, Gambia’s Ministry of Environment, in partnership with the NAP Global Network and the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO), organized a training of trainers in Jenoi last November. SIERRA LEONE LAUNCHES NAP COMMUNICATIONS CAMPAIGN
Sierra Leone has released a video and a radio jingle showcasing the country’s approach to adaptation to climate change as part of the communications strategy for raising awareness of its NAP process.

  • The UN reports that 120 developing countries have now launched NAP processes. We collected stories from 12 countries that—led by national governments—reached milestones in their NAP processes in 2019.

NETWORK SECRETARIAT IN ACTION NAPS IN THE NEWS
  • The Africa Climate Change Fund (ACCF) recently approved new funding to support Benin and Lesotho's NAP processes via the UN Capital Development Fund’s LoCAL Mechanism.
  • Ghanaian youth seek more involvement in local environmental policy-making, including the country’s NAP process.

  • Uganda hosted a validation workshop for developing NAP entry points and adaptation priorities.
