The Angels just set the bar for the ‘Most fun and Welcoming Angel network’ (we may be a little biased😊).
Local business leader
Angela Armstrong, the founder of
Prime Capital, set the tone for a casual, down-to-earth Angel Pitch Night II, and the rest of us followed her cue.
James from
TrustBIX is ‘recycling’ the wealth he earned as the CTO of Zedi, a quiet Alberta success story recently sold to Emerson. He’s joining us for his second summit.
Keren is most excited about the social impact side of Angel investing. She’s in her 3
rd summit! She also revealed that she’s the enabler of Zack’s angel addiction. She’s running for city council in the fall.
Jade, the founder of
Peer Guidance, is an active startup supporter, advisor, investor, mentor and community champion with Purpose before Profit and his weekly Facebook live series,
Telling it Like it is. He’s also a social media savant that has helped TNT double our Linkedin followers in the past few months.
Mark, Director at Red Thread, made us all feel a little jealous of his wealth of cultural, education and language experience. He now works full-time with
Red Thread Ventures
Michael founded Remedy Café (favourite drink: Chai Latte) before building a local foreign exchange powerhouse called
Firma Foreign Exchange. He’s invested in a range of local businesses and is investing with TNT because ‘90% of Alberta businesses earn 100% of their revenue in Alberta.’ Now there’s a TNT rallying cry if we’ve ever heard one!
You’ll also see Michael in our upcoming municipal election.
Lindsay earned claps and cheers for her comments on the importance of settings like TNT to welcome new investors into the startup world. She’s a TNT ambassador, a program manager at AWE, and a 2-time investor at TNT.
Kyle finished it off by sharing how he's working directly with many family offices to educate them on Angel investing and activate additional risk capital for the tech community. That sounds like our kind of guy!
Official TNT
Professor Tony Briggs joined us at the happy (before 9 pm, too!). We heard that Tony's son even got an ad-hoc guitar lesson from Damian, who will be joining us for the summit after party!
Tim and Sonia helped us estimate how many flats of Pitch Night IPA could fit into the back of a Mazda CX5 (80 flats apparently)
Christine told us about her new job working with Ratmir and the team at
48-hour discovery. Congrats
Christine!
We enjoyed some home-made ‘wine’ with her family (tonic, food-colouring, and water)
Startups
Cherry Health and
AlignVR were rubbing shoulders with investors
Noel and
Joe in anticipation of TNTISIII happening next week!
