Financing for Development on the 73rd United Nations General Assembly Agenda
The United Nations General Assembly elected María Fernanda Espinosa Garcés, Ecuadorean Foreign Minister, to serve as the President of the forthcoming 73rd session. One of her priorities for the Assembly in late September is the implementation of the Addis Ababa Action Agenda, which identifies areas of sustainable development where significant investments are needed, such as infrastructure for energy, transport, water and sanitation. The Agenda also emphasizes domestic resource mobilization and the importance of nationally-owned development strategies.
A mandate of the Agenda is the establishment of the Global Infrastructure Forum, an annual gathering of leaders from multilateral development banks and their development partners. The 2018 Global Infrastructure Forum will be hosted by the Asian Development Bank on 13 October 2018 in Bali, Indonesia. The deadline for online registration is 30 September 2018.
