Hello! 👋

1. Thanks to everyone who dialled into 'How not to waste a crisis #1'. We had 120 of you stick with us for the full hour. For those that couldn't make it we've notes and a recording for you to catch up with below.

2. The second online call is Wednesday 8 April, sign up for the call right now. Got questions or themes you think we should be talking about? Do hit reply and let me know!

3. Our usual monthly (ish) newsletter will still be going out, this time guest-written by Geoff Mulgan.
How not to waste a crisis #2

Is the social contract between state and citizen being re-written? And if it is, what should a new one include?

Grappling with this will be
Panthea Lee, the Director of Reboot, Penny Hagen Co-design Lead at Auckland Co-design Lab & Louise Pulford, Executive Director of Social Innovation Exchange. Please join for chat and a coffee (or a beer depending on what time of day it is for you).

😊 Lots of you told us how much you valued connecting with each other. We're going to create more space for this in the session. As always, hit reply and send us tips if you've seen or have done this well!

📖 Read Panthea’s blog rebuilding a Compassionate Social Contract in the Face of COVID-19.

✍️ Add your
suggestions, questions and comments into the collaborative agenda doc (we're hoping this might serve us better than the Zoom chat function).

A recap of... the first 'how not to waste a crisis'

Lots of good points and questions raised on the first call. Who's building trust in this crisis, and who's not? A re-think of what resilience is and whether too many years at the altar of efficiency has left us sailing too close to the wind when disaster strikes. Fears that this could be as much a step back as it is a chance to create a positive new future. Plus, when governments seem to have stopped speaking to one another, where are the conversations that need to be happening, happening?

We know that through timezone, or childcare (or anything else you may have on your plate) that you can't all make these calls live. We're here to help:

📝 We've written up full notes and transcript for the call.

📺 You can watch the recording by downloading the video.

📻 Or listen to the audio like you would the radio.

If you have any trouble with any of these links, let me know and I'll try to sort.

If you have any feedback or tips for running these online sessions, please let us know in our anonymous form, or hit reply and chat to me! 👋 Forwarded this email  Sign up here. 🚀
