Our campaign is facing its biggest challenge yet. If I can’t raise $3500 in the next 2 weeks— I will have no choice but to throw in the towel and personally assume the campaign's debt. If we don't meet this goal, we will not have the resources to keep to keep up our fight.
We've knocked on hundreds of doors, talked to thousands of voters. The financial barriers to running for office are immense, making it difficult for average Americans like you and I to launch a successful campaign. I want to keep fighting for the working people of Southern Maryland, but I can't do it alone.

Together, we've ran a historic campaign thus far that has changed the nature of the political status quo and pushed Democratic leadership on a number of big ideas. As the first openly gay woman and first Afro-Latina to run for Congress in Southern Maryland, I can only hope we've made it easier for the next generation. Maryland is represented by an all male delegation with an average age of 64, so our mere presence in the race was transformative. Maryland could use a new generation of leadership, but our race is reliant on small dollar donors and true grassroots power.
