Our friends at the Sarasota County Democratic Party have organized a virtual Voter Registration Workshop for Tuesday, June 1 (7-9 pm) open to everyone fighting to turn Florida Blue again! Discussion topics will include VR Training, Volunteer Recruitment for VR, VR Strategy and the use of electronic tools (Hot Blocks/Mapper/Map The Vote/Google Maps). To register, click here.

Winter Haven seeks residents to serve on a new police advisory board
The newly approved Winter Haven Public Safety Community Advisory Committee will consist of nine community members and two alternates. The committee will have the power to look into closed investigations and ask questions about decisions that were made. Additionally, the committee can look into issues such as officer training or controversial proposals, such as mandating officers wear body cameras. Insurectionists' attorneys say those who spread misinformation bear responsibility
Falsehoods about the election helped bring insurrectionists to the Capitol on Jan. 6, and now some who are facing criminal charges for their actions during the riot hope their gullibility might save them or at least engender some sympathy.

Transgender athlete ban hits Gov. DeSantis’ desk
A bill that includes a provision banning transgender athletes from participating in women’s and girls’ sports was moved to the Governor’s desk Friday.

Florida Democrats stump for ‘vital’ Biden spending plans
Florida Democrats are looking to rally support for several spending plans backed by President Joe Biden and congressional Democrats.
The federal government’s response to the COVID-19 pandemic is likely to be a major issue heading into the 2022 midterm cycle. That election could dictate not only Florida’s congressional party split, but may also impact the 2022 gubernatorial contest. A Red wave year would make it that much harder for Democrats to oust incumbent Gov. Ron DeSantis.

Rep. Adam Kinzinger (R-Ill.) on Friday slammed Rep. Matt Gaetz's (R-Fla.) rhetoric in response to a speech the Florida congressman gave encouraging Americans to use their Second Amendment rights.
Kinzinger condemned his fellow GOP lawmaker, saying that his comments are "why we need a January 6 commission."
