The EU commits €29 million during Nairobi Summit to support adolescents SRHR in Africa, the Caribbean and the Pacific
The European Union as a political leader and key donor for promoting and advancing SRHR worldwide ensured to walk the “leaving no one behind” talk by taking a major commitment during the Summit. As the EU representative, Ms Henriette Geiger, Director of the Directorate People and Peace in DG DEVCO (Directorate General for Development and Cooperation) of the European Commission made a 29 Million Euro (approximately $32 Million USD) announcement for the EU funding package to support youth led SRHR programming in Africa, the Caribbean and Pacific (ACP) countries. Supported through the intra-ACP programme of the European Development Fund (11th EDF, 2014 -2020), the EU’s commitment will be translated in a call for proposals on adolescents SRHR in the ACP region in 2020.
