Report proving the importance of SRH/FP in Sub-Saharan Africa prompts support from new German government

A new study proved once again the importance of access to sexual and reproductive health and family planning (SRH/FP) services as well as education for millions of women and girls in the region of Sub-Saharan Africa. The report was released shortly after the German government formation, and findings were backed by the new German parliamentarians and government representatives alike, who pledged to support work on SRH/FP.

Highlighting SRHR in emergencies can be life-saving

On International Women’s Day, the C2030E partner, Sensoa, organized a Parliamentary event, also marking the one-year anniversary of the 'She Decides' movement. THROWBACK TO C2030E RESOURCES

SheDecides – One year down the line.
Spotlight on Countdown 2030 Europe countries

One year since the international 'She Decides' conference, C2030E makes an overview of European donor governments pledges. We applaud governments for their commitments and involvement so far, but more will need to be done in 2018 and beyond to reverse the downwards trend and address the funding crisis facing global SRH/FP programmes. We are happy to note that France recently pledged an additional  €10 million which is not reflected in our overview.

We welcome donor governments’ efforts to mobilise additional resources in support of development objectives. Yet, we are also wary of the side-effects it might have.

Tracking European donor support to sexual & reproductive health &
family planning

The 2016-17 tracking report by Countdown 2030 Europe analyses the most recent trends in SRH/FP policies and funding by European donor countries. Funding was maintained or even increased in many European donor countries, and the past year has seen promising new policy documents and funding commitments. Looking forward, advocacy will be key in maintaining this momentum and ensuring a continued focus on the critical issues of SRH/FP.
