Maybe we put the trunk before the engine... Getting people excited without a cooperative platform and then getting excited about the cooperative platform without the people. I can admit that our slow roll made me believe that this thing would never get going. I stopped reaching out. Gave up more times than I’m proud of. Stopped connecting. Stopped letting people know that an alternative to capitalist self-publishing marketplaces was forthcoming, and then, that it exists. But also, social media changed a lot in that time, forcing us to limit our online profile to Bluesky, which further reduced connections.
We did a soft-ish launch back in April 2025 in a rush to open with the publishing date of one of our biggest supporters (hey Rob!). We sent a sheepish email, suggesting you should roll with us, when we’ve given no reason for you to do so. So. We’re making an effort to reconnect, reach out, and let y’all know that self-publishing (r)evolution exists. WE cannot do it without YOU. And WE need this more now than ever. Expect to hear more from us and see more of us in the coming weeks/months/years. In your inbox with updates. On screen during virtual meet-ups. In ways to connect that we haven’t quite thought up yet.
This is a call to: all independent, solo-, self-publishing authors (be it books, zines, or audio recordings, and all the creative souls who support – the cover designers, the editors, the readers, the listeners who not only want to but are willing to create a system that is equitably owned by the many, instead of extracted from by few. A community owned and operated enterprise. Just one of a million ways we can be the change this world. Roll with us.
