Canada Day TNT in the park reminded us why we love in-person TNT.
Jimmy, the owner of
Say Uncle, sponsored a self-serve spread of juicy
Prairie Catering Burgers.
Jimmy doesn't know it, but back when he was an entrepreneur in residence at EEDC. He provided some great support for a certain
fledgling entrepreneur trying to break into the food industry.....
And now he's providing the startup community with
my favourite BBQ dish. Love this community!
Tim set up an ice-cold keg of Hazy IPA from his brother's brewpub,
Odd Company.
Quinn from
Rogue 7 showed up an hour early to help set up.
Kids were running around serving 'Homemade lemonade.'
Damian was dropping beats.
And TNT was back!
Tom from
Interface brought the whole family. Kam from
Greyjay brought the whole family.
Eugenio, an MBA student with TNT Prof Tony, brought the whole family.
Kids were throwing water balloons. Kids were playing frisbee. Emily showed us how to play wild and crazy Aussie Rules Bocci.
There was a hot wings contest! Grown men cried.
VCs were there. TNT
Investors were there. Students were there.
CEOs of
Innovate Edmonton were there. Students were there.
New people found us on Eventbrite and just showed up.
Four people that used to work in
Prof Dominic's lab were there, including
Aurelija Grigonyte,
Abbas,
Chanchan and your fearless newsletter writer.
Dominique showed up dressed like a basketball player with a homemade TNT jello bowl. The founders of
Awele stopped by.
All three members of the TNT board of Directors rolled in.
Jerry Bouma wondered in with his wife. They just so happened to be strolling through the park looking for entrepreneurs to hang out with.
We even stayed late enough to catch the fireworks on the drive home.
You learn so many new things when meeting in person:
2 of our TNT entrepreneurs are pregnant. We had no idea over zoom! Congrats
Nicole and
Emily.
Thanks, everyone, for a wonderful re-birth of our Thursday Night Tradition.
We're moving downtown next week!
You heard that right. We're moving the happy hour to
Mercer Tavern so that we can be in the heart of our Edmonton startup community on 104th street.
Our friends from Startup Edmonton have even generously offered us some dedicated desk space. So you can stop by and say hi anytime! Happy hour starts at 6 pm.
Set up a work meeting and come early at 5, then stay for the fun.
Don't worry, Calgary, we're going to get your happy going later this summer.
Stay tuned!
