Remember the Finest

We should never forget our brothers and sisters who made the ultimate sacrifice for the safety of the people of the City of New York.

On the anniversary of each officer’s death, his or her citation is to be read in every command in the geographic borough of the officer’s assignment. It will be read at all roll calls on that date, from 0001 through 2400 hours. At these times, in addition to the uniformed members of the service standing roll call, all other members of the service present are encouraged to attend the readings. In commands that do not hold formal roll calls, the unit commander will decide how best to conduct the readings to honor the fallen officers, while conforming to the unit’s operations.

Commanding Officers will ensure that the citation is posted in a prominent location in the command from the anniversary date until the date of the next memorial ceremony.
