When the Prime Minister took up office, 101 days ago, he made clear his determination to secure a new deal with our European friends. On the steps of Downing Street, he argued the doubters, doomsters and gloomsters – those who would bet against Britain – were wrong and set to lose their shirts.
Last month, the Prime Minister secured that comprehensive new deal with the European Union. The agreement succeeds in removing the anti-democratic backstop, it creates a whole UK customs union and takes back control of our money and laws.
Despite this, Parliament has favoured more dither and delay. It is now increasingly clear that this Parliament has run its course.
That’s why this government has called for and secured a General Election on December 12th. I look forward to campaigning in Bromsgrove once again and having the opportunity to discuss my proud record as your MP and the pressing local and national issues of the day.
Away from Parliament, it has been a busy month in the constituency; with local visits, surgeries and funding announcements filling my diary.
In September’s Spending Round, I announced that the Conservatives were increasing school spending by an additional £7.1bn by 2022-23– an investment worth a total of £14bn over the next three years, and the largest cash boost in a generation.
This funding is particularly good news for Worcestershire schools, who will receive an average funding increase of 4.6% per-pupil next year - that's a total of £17.7m of additional investment, with even more expected in future.
There was also good news for our local police force this month, as the government announced that West Mercia is targeted with recruiting nearly 100 additional officers by the end of next year.
This new recruitment target is fantastic news for our police force, whose numbers are now at a seven year high. In fact, 215 new officers have been recruited in 2019 alone – with a new 25 officer team patrolling Bromsgrove exclusively as of this month.
Finally, I would like to congratulate the new County Councillor for Bromsgrove South - Kyle Daisley. Having campaigned with Kyle over the last few weeks, I know that he will be a fantastic representative for Bromsgrove South.
The hard-work begins once you're in office and I am confident that Kyle will repay the trust to those who elected him.
Unfortunately, due to the rules of the election, I will only be able to respond to casework that is urgent.
However, if you need my assistance, do get in touch with my office via sajidjavid.bromsgrove@gmail.com
I wish you a pleasant month and hope to see you on the campaign trail in Bromsgrove!
Best wishes,

Sajid Javid
