Welcome to the November 2019 edition of Sajid Javid MP's newsletter.
WELCOME
When the Prime Minister took up office, 101 days ago, he made clear his determination to secure a new deal with our European friends. On the steps of Downing Street, he argued the doubters, doomsters and gloomsters – those who would bet against Britain – were wrong and set to lose their shirts.

Last month, the Prime Minister secured that comprehensive new deal with the European Union. The agreement succeeds in removing the anti-democratic backstop, it creates a whole UK customs union and takes back control of our money and laws.

Despite this, Parliament has favoured more dither and delay. It is now increasingly clear that this Parliament has run its course.

That’s why this government has called for and secured a General Election on December 12th. I look forward to campaigning in Bromsgrove once again and having the opportunity to discuss my proud record as your MP and the pressing local and national issues of the day.

Away from Parliament, it has been a busy month in the constituency; with local visits, surgeries and funding announcements filling my diary.

In September’s Spending Round, I announced that the Conservatives were increasing school spending by an additional £7.1bn by 2022-23– an investment worth a total of £14bn over the next three years, and the largest cash boost in a generation.

This funding is particularly good news for Worcestershire schools, who will receive an average funding increase of 4.6% per-pupil next year - that's a total of £17.7m of additional investment, with even more expected in future.

There was also good news for our local police force this month, as the government announced that West Mercia is targeted with recruiting nearly 100 additional officers by the end of next year.

This new recruitment target is fantastic news for our police force, whose numbers are now at a seven year high. In fact, 215 new officers have been recruited in 2019 alone – with a new 25 officer team patrolling Bromsgrove exclusively as of this month.

Finally, I would like to congratulate the new County Councillor for Bromsgrove South - Kyle Daisley. Having campaigned with Kyle over the last few weeks, I know that he will be a fantastic representative for Bromsgrove South.

The hard-work begins once you're in office and I am confident that Kyle will repay the trust to those who elected him.

Unfortunately, due to the rules of the election, I will only be able to respond to casework that is urgent.

However, if you need my assistance, do get in touch with my office via sajidjavid.bromsgrove@gmail.com

I wish you a pleasant month and hope to see you on the campaign trail in Bromsgrove!

Best wishes,

Sajid Javid
Member of Parliament for Bromsgrove
RECENT ACTIVITY
It was a pleasure to meet our hard-working local police officers at Bromsgrove Police Station.

West Mercia Police Force has recruited an additional 215 officers this year alone - that's a seven year high; and with the Conservative government committed to recruiting a further 20,000 bobbies nationwide over the next three years, these numbers are set to increase.
This month, the government announced its spending plans for schools across the country. I was delighted to visit Crown Meadow Primary School in Alvechurch to share the news that Worcestershire will receive a 4.6% average increase in per-pupil funding - that's an additional £17.7million of funding next year.

I must thank the very kind staff and the excellent students for their kind hospitality. It was great fun to take part in a Q&A session and the students asked some brilliant questions.

I hit the campaign trail in Charford to support the fantastic Conservative candidate, Kyle Daisley, in the Bromsgrove South By-election.

Kyle is a very impressive young man, with some great ideas for the community in Bromsgrove South.

Last Thursday, Kyle overturned the Labour majority, winning by over 330 votes!
Supporting local business is a priority for me, so it was great to visit Ascott's restaurant in Bromsgrove and see how they were getting on.

We must do more to support local business and chatting with owners, managers and staff is always extremely useful.
Attending the Bailiff's dinner in Bromsgrove is one of my annual highlights.

It's a fantastic event that does so much to preserve our local heritage and raise money for great local causes.
I'm already looking forward to attending next year!
I visited St Basil's in Bromsgrove this month.

St Basil's does great work to help prevent youth homelessness; it was a privilege to speak to the hard-working staff and to pledge my support to this great local organisation.

In late September, I addressed the Conservative Party Conference. In my speech, I reaffirmed the Conservative Party's belief in family, hard-work and public services.

I also announced that this Conservative government will increase the national living wage to £10.50 an hour by 2024 - that's a pay rise for four million people.
