Under the slogan “There's No Place Like Home,” the Middle East Council of Churches (MECC) developed and launched a platform dedicated to homecare services in Lebanon, in the field of identifying certified caregivers. The platform provides a user-friendly and convenient search for service seekers, as it connects them with certified caregivers who in turn provide specialized support in a safe and loving environment.
It is worth mentioning that the caregivers certified by the Middle East Council of Churches had undergone a comprehensive and intensive training program of 120 hours with Saint George Hospital University Medical Center (Beirut, Mount Lebanon, and Tripoli) and Khoury General Hospital (Zahle, Lebanon). Therefore, they were equipped with the health skills and necessary knowledge, and hence became prepared to deal with various medical tasks and offer high-quality care.
Stemming from its belief in the importance of serving with dignity, the Middle East Council of Churches (MECC) launched a new platform for homecare services in Lebanon, enabling service seekers to identify certified caregivers who have undergone extensive health training with Saint George Hospital University Medical Center (Beirut, Mount Lebanon, and Tripoli) and Khoury General Hospital (Zahle, Lebanon). Hence, the platform offers a variety of home services related to elderly care, mothers and newborn care, as well as babysitting and childcare.
In a step towards enhancing the livelihoods of the people at the Lebanese Akkar region who, like all other Lebanese, suffer from the difficult living conditions, the Middle East Council of Churches (MECC), Diakonia and Social Service Department, Lebanon Office, launched a business development program through supporting small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), and help them secure their long-term sustainability.
In the video, Father Seraphim Awad, the Priest of Sheikh Lar Parish in Akkar, a farmer, agricultural technician and owner of an agricultural project in Akkar, talks about the circumstances he went through in addition to the contribution of the MECC program in developing his project.
With the deterioration of economic and social conditions in Lebanon, the Akkar region was not immune from the crises that cast their shadow over the country. Therefore, the Middle East Council of Churches (MECC), Diakonia and Social Service Department, Lebanon Office, seeks to support the people of Akkar, as well as other Lebanese regions, by implementing a business development program for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in order to help their owners face the daily challenges and ensure a long-term sustainability for their projects.
In the video, Mr. Joseph Daher, owner of a winery in the Andaket-Akkar region, describes the phases he went through in order to establish his project, and how, through the support of MECC, he was able to increase his production.

Middle East Overview
International outrage has only ramped up over the malicious actions being perpetrated in Gaza. Even the traditional allies of the occupant have found it hard to defend the killing of displaced people, who consist of women and children, in designated safe camps. Moreover, the ICJ has issued arrest warrants targeting the occupant’s officials blaming them for war crimes. However, with the backing of the United States, bringing these individuals to justice will remain an impossibility. For the time being, millions of people around the world continue to increase pressure on the occupation entity using any way possible. Supported by the free media, they are succeeding in rallying others against this menace.
Secretary General Message
This speech was delivered by the Secretary General of the Middle East Council of Churches (MECC) Dr. Michel E. Abs, at the Signing of the Media Cooperation Memorandum Between MECC, Télé Lumière - Noursat, and the Near East School of Theology (NEST), on Wednesday 19 June 2024, at the offices of the MECC General Secretariat in Beirut - Lebanon.

Dr. Michel E. Abs
The Secretary General of the Middle East Council of Churches (MECC)

"And they shall not light a lamp and put it under the bushel, but on the lampstand, it shall shine for all who are in the house." (Matthew 5:15).

Dear Brother Nour, Director of Noursat, always present among us with his love,
Dear Dr. George Sabra, President of the Near East School of Theology, Professor, Researcher, and Author,
Dear friends and colleagues,

Today, we take an ecumenical and humanitarian step par excellence, as part of the fiftieth anniversary of the Middle East Council of Churches, which includes all of us.
This step unites three Christian institutions that have long worked to bear witness to the Lord's message of salvation in service to humanity.
The Near East School of Theology, in addition to graduating generations of parish ministers across the Middle East for nearly a century, has been dedicated to serving the Lebanese and Levantine community. It stands as a scientific edifice and a beacon of thought while also being a springboard for services to its environment.
During the fierce war that devastated Lebanon, the seminary provided refuge for people, protecting them from spreading bombardments, supplying water when it was completely cut off from homes, and hosting the field hospital of the Palestinian Red Crescent Society during the Zionist invasion of Lebanon. The seminary also housed the warehouses of the Middle East Council of Churches during the Lebanon war, where we prepared and distributed medicines, food supplies, and other in-kind aid in its spacious basements. It also embraced the MECC’s Department of Audiovisual Production, and what we celebrate today is the continuity of this studio's work, producing media materials that help spread awareness and heal people's psychological and moral lesions.
Blessed is this college blessed are those who manage its affairs and the dedication of its leaders, including Dr. George Sabra, who played a key role in reaching this cooperation agreement.
Tele Lumiere/Noursat, launched and managed by Brother Nour with modest resources, has opened a new era in Christian media in the Levant, the Arab world, and globally. This giant institution, with its values and know-how, serves as a beacon, embodying the belief that faith must be shared and understood by people. Under the guidance of Brother Nour, it operates according to ecumenical principles, providing space on its screens for all who strive to spread the faith of salvation. This institution, now in its prime, behaves with the ecumenical spirit, and covers all parts of the world, addressing all social groups and accompanying people in their faith and life concerns, despite its limited resources. It represents the Holy Spirit's influence in strengthening faith and exemplifies the saying that faith as small as a mustard seed can move mountains.
Blessed is this media edifice, and blessed are those who manage its affairs, including its president, the blessed Brother Nour. Thanks also go to media colleague Lea Adel Maamari, who facilitated this cooperation alongside the dialogue with the Near East School of Theology.

Mk. 4:35-41
Today's Gospel passage (Mk. 4:35-41) immediately follows last Sunday's, which recounted two parables of the Kingdom and ended with an image of a tree growing in the garden becoming so large that it can shelter the birds of heaven (Mk. 4:32).
It is an important imagery because in heaven there are no national boundaries, no barriers whatsoever: and the image of the tree is meant to say that the Kingdom of Heaven is open to all, near and far. It is not reserved only for one nation, one category of people, but for every man who wants to take refuge in its shadow...
