In the context of the Global Initiative on Decent Jobs for Youth, Making Cents International’s Youth Economic Opportunities (YEO) 2030 Initiative, in partnership with the International Labour Organization (ILO), is co-hosting a youth dialogue on investing in a transformative future of work for young people.
The online youth dialogue focuses on gathering young people from around the world with different backgrounds and experiences to share their ideas, views, and perspectives. Young people aged 16 to 35, who are interested in learning more about important future work trends, Sustainable Development Goal 8 (SDG) that is focused on decent work and economic growth, other related SDGs, networks, and opportunities to influence policy recommendations, are encouraged to join.
The event is based on the 2022 Global Employment Trends for Youth (GET Youth) report published biannually by the ILO. The publication analyzes the most recent labour market trends available while also focusing on key themes in the world of work concerning young people globally.
Based on the 2022 edition of the report, the youth dialogue will focus on two economies that have considerable potential to create productive jobs for young workers in a transforming future: the green economy and the digital economy. The two economies will be further explored in designated breakout sessions. Outcomes of the discussion will help shape follow-up actions of the GET Youth 2022 report and inform the 2023 Global YEO Summit hosted by YEO 2030 on May 16-18, 2023 in Washington, D.C.
