Campaign Updates: Canvassing, Community Involvement, and Fundraising
Campaign Updates
Hello to new subscribers and to those who have been following along since the beginning! It's been almost a month since our last email update so we wanted to share with you what we've been up to incase you've missed our social media postings. Thank you for your interest in our campaign!
Canvassing
One of the most important focuses of our campaign has been canvassing. We are out knocking doors every weekend and we've already hit over 5,000 doors knocked! Canvassing is critical for a grassroots campaign like ours. 80% of Hoosiers don't vote in the primary and over 50% don't vote in the general. We are going out to those non voters and asking them for their vote and the response has been amazing! While canvassing, we've received hi fives, hand shakes, and even hugs!! So many people are happy to get to vote for a candidate that is out putting in the work to earn their vote and running on issues that benefit working people. Check our website frequently to canvass with us some upcoming weekend!
We've continued to work with and meet with community organizations. Since our last email we've met with the Young Democrats of Allen County, and Fort Wayne College Democrats. Both of these groups are inspiring to talk to because they are our future and they are paying attention and actively participating in our political landscape. We're happy that people from these groups have decided to join our volunteer team! We also had the pleasure of meeting with the Huntington County Democrats. Two churches (Ministerio Alfa Y Omega and Faith United Methodist) invited us to their services and it was great meeting their members and hearing how they are helping people in the area! The United Auto Workers invited us to speak to their CAP members last week and we enjoyed talking with them about our platform. It was great to hear that Medicare for All is something they support and we are hoping we receive their endorsement.
Fundraising
By now, you all know we are running a grassroots campaign. That means we have rejected all corporate PAC money and we aren't focused on big fundraisers. This campaign is for the working class - a group that gets overlooked and left out of the standard political process. We're running a campaign true to us and that doesn't include fancy, expensive dinners. We have an online donation platform and had set an initial goal of raising $1000. We met that goal a few weeks ago and are working towards our new $2000 goal! This money we raise goes towards our literature that we use when we're knocking on all those doors. We're hoping to raise enough soon to buy yard signs, buttons, and bumper stickers! Right now we have t-shirts and posters available online. Please consider donating or buying some merchandise if you want to support our campaign!
Lastly, thank you for subscribing to these emails and for your support of Carlos Marcano and our campaign. We can't do it alone. It's never been only about Carlos or what he can do. It's about all of us and what we can do together, for each other! Together we WIN!!
