On February 14th, hundreds of retirees attended my fourth Bromsgrove Pensioners Fair.
With heart-shaped balloons and chocolates on offer to celebrate Valentines Day, over 500 attendees descended on Parkside Hall for a morning of free advice and entertainment.
50 fantastic local organisations also attended the Fair, ranging from Age UK to the Artrix. It is a testament to our brilliant community spirit that so many residents and organisations gave up their time to support our elderly community.
But, the event was about more than support, it was also about celebrating the fantastic contribution retirees make to our local area on a daily basis.
I would like to thank everyone that attended for their support. I'm already looking forward to the next Fair in 2021!
In other local news, I was delighted to see the latest ONS figures report unemployment at a near-record low in Bromsgrove. Unemployment remains at just under 2% - marking over a 20% decrease since 2010.
The national figures also reported good news, showing that UK employment is at a record high and that youth unemployment has halved since 2010.
There is still so much more to do, both nationally and locally - but with a conservative government working flat out to unleash every bit of our fantastic potential, we can make great progress.
And that government and Prime Minister will continue to have my full confidence and support from the backbenches.
Since being elected as the MP for Bromsgrove ten years ago, I've had the huge honour of holding several ministerial roles - running five departments, including two Great Offices of State.
While it is of course disappointing that I will no longer serve as Chancellor of the Exchequer, I am hugely optimistic about our country's future.
I am very much looking forward to spending more time with my family and to continuing to serve the people of Bromsgrove.

Sajid Javid

My fourth Bromsgrove Pensioners Fair has been hailed as a resounding success!
With over 50 fantastic exhibitors and a series of live performances, more than 500 retirees and their families enjoyed a morning of free advice and entertainment.
Thank you to all of the fantastic exhibitors and sponsors who helped make the fair possible.

Serving as Chancellor of the Exchequer was a great privilege.
In a Personal Statement to the House, I explained why I decided to resign from the government.
The statement also provided the opportunity to pledge my full support to the Prime Minister, as we work towards levelling up and unleashing the full potential of our great country.

I had the pleasure of meeting with local business owners at Hagley Hall.
Local businesses are the lifeblood of our economy. Since 2010, the number of businesses in Bromsgrove has increased by over 1500!

I visited the Bromsgrove Museum to officially open four new shop display exhibitions.
Our local heritage is something to be proud of and the museum does an excellent job of commemorating that fantastic local history.

I met with the Leader and CEO of Worcestershire County Council to discuss local public services and infrastructure.
It's clear when talking to residents that local infrastructure is a major local priority.
The meeting proved a useful opportunity to discuss the latest plans for improvements, including to the A38.

I always enjoy visiting Bromsgrove market and chatting to shoppers and business owners.
Last month, the government announced the extension of the retail discount to 50% for small shops and cafe's.
The change will also make music venues and cinema's eligible to benefit as well - demonstrating our commitment to backing High Streets and small business owners.

I caught up with local Conservative activists who supported my campaign for re-election at the recent General Election.
Come rain or come shine, they supported the Conservatives to help achieve a majority government.
Now its time to unite the country and work together to make Britain and Bromsgrove an even better place to live, work and raise a family.
