Folks,

I covered progressive New York gubernatorial candidate Cynthia Nixon today and came away impressed. She speaks with a fierceness, forcefulness, and authenticity few candidates display.

"He hasn't only governed politically like a Republican, he's governed fiscally like a Republican," Nixon said about current Governor Andrew Cuomo. Cuomo, in my opinion, is one of the worst corporate Democrats in the country, HOARDING money from real estate developers, Wall Street, big oil, and the rest of the oligarchy making cities like New York—and the country overall—a tale of two cities.

"There's a reason the Koch brothers gave him an $87,000 when he ran in 2010. Since taking office, he's eliminated the bank tax, slashed taxes on corporations; he has decimated our infrastructure and has starved our cities and towns of the most basic services.

But this was my favorite line from Nixon: "I am running for governor because I believe we can have a New York that works for all of us. I'm running because I'm tired of the corruption, I'm tired of fake corporate Democrats who aren't going to lift a finger to enact change unless their donors say it's okay."

I always keep it real: Cynthia is down in the polls ahead of the Democratic Primary on September 13th. But that won't stop me from covering her and providing a microphone to progressive supporters who don't get a voice in local New York or national media. That's why I plan on covering her campaign this weekend.

Your support on Patreon and Paypal is the only way I can keep getting out in the field to cover these critical candidates and campaigns—frankly, the more you contribute, the further it will get Jenn, Ty and I. I also plan on getting down to Florida to cover progressive gubernatorial candidate Andrew Gillum's campaign.
