“How Do I Wear That?” Business Blog Content Writing
A magazine feature titled “How Do I Wear That?” can serve as a very good model for blog content writers trying to help their clients market a product or service. That article (from SELF magazine) was written in question/answer format, first describing a “style dilemma”, then offering a “self-solution”. In other words, the article offered valuable information (in this case from fashion experts) which readers could use without having to buy anything. Nevertheless, the article was very obviously designed to sell stuff, because, under each “self-solution”, there appeared a list of pants, dresses, shoes, and bags that were available for purchase – and in which stores. My point - as content writers, we do not need to apologize for connecting our content to actual solutions, so long as using the information we offer does not necessitate a purchase. The other thing I liked was that the questions were presented from the reader’s viewpoint; the answers were couched in “I think” format. That very personal, conversational, “just between us” tone is exactly the one which every blog content writer should be trying to incorporate in writing for business. Selling stuff by giving away valuable and actionable advice? That’s an all-around good deal in blogging for business!

Advice-giving through conversation:
B2B businesses thrive on keeping up with prospects and forecasting existing customers’ needs. Allow the prospect to talk first; once they finish you can mildly drive the conversation. Storytelling walks prospects gently through their own needs. (Source: MoData.com)
