For the past month, we have been turning up to say WE NEED A NEW SYSTEM OF PUBLIC SAFETY! DEFUND POLICE! While the city council voted down the proposed legislation to defund the police, The fight isn't over!
On Monday at 1 pm City Council has another opportunity to SIGNIFICANTLY DECREASE POLICE SPENDING by voting YES on The Rayshard Brooks Bill sponsored by Councilmember Antonio Brown and supported by the family of Rayshard Brooks. This Bill will not completely defund APD, but it is the least we can do to prevent more death at the hands of police.
What you can do to CUT THE APD BUDGET by MONDAY:
Call: We need people from every district to call into City Council and say "VOTE YES on the Rayshard Brooks Bill which will hold some of the police budgets in reserve to ENSURE the city does its job to reimagine our police department." Call 404 330 6001 before Monday at 12 pm
Recruit 3-5 Members to Call in: They tried to ignore us last Full council meeting 1071 of us - 16 hours of us. Now they are fighting us and calling the police the victims —we must now double the pressure.
Amplify on Social Media: Spread the word that we need everyone to Call 404 330 6001 before Monday at 12 pm
First, they ignore you, then they laugh at you, then they fight you, then you win!

Hi, My name is _______ and I live in ______(Your Councilmember's name)_____'s district in Atlanta. (if you live outside Atlanta no need to share where you live) I and others in this district urge you and the council as a whole to reverse their action from the July 19th full council meeting and ensure meaningful police reform happens.
We are watching you and listening and will remember come election time, who listened to the people and who didn't.
WE NEED A NEW SYSTEM OF PUBLIC SAFETY! DEFUND! Holding some of the police budgets in reserve will ENSURE the city does its job to reimagine our police department.
The community is not fooled by claims that the bill is illegal. You represent the people, not your own private interests or even your own private conservative, racially-biased notions of safety.
Vote YES on The Rayshard Brooks bill and show you are committed to transforming this city's policing so that ALL of Atlantas are safe!
