VETERANS AND SENIORS WEEK
This week, Kimberly and Team BIZON will be focusing on Veterans and Seniors.

There are 18.5 million veterans nationwide and for many of them their fight continues long after their service ends. 650,000 veterans call Michigan home. 13% of them have a service connected disability rating, nearly 11% are unemployed, approximately 8% live in poverty, and as many as 1,000 are homeless. They protected us and now we need to protect them by pushing for a more efficient VA guaranteeing they have the resources they need for treatment, education and job training. We need to keep working until every veteran has a home and the care they need.
Senior citizens in the Michigan 10th are struggling. There are over 130,000 seniors in this district, 8.7% of which fell below the poverty level. After working for their entire lives in some of the greatest times in economic security, we need to lift seniors above the poverty line. Seniors, especially those in assisted living facilities, have been hit especially hard by COVID-19. Many of them have not been able to see their families in over 6 months, still under restricted quarantine. We must look out for our most vulnerable populations. They deserve better.
Veterans and Seniors have fulfilled their obligations to us. We must keep our promises to them.
WHERE WILL KIMBERLY BE THIS WEEK?

Kimberly will be on the road visiting Assisted Living Facilities, Veterans, and supporters in District 10 to start off her week. Seniors, Care Staff, and Veterans are Kimberly's outreach focus this week. Kimberly will also be speaking with a local Vet on her newest episode of KimCast for the week. Kimberly will then be joining the St. Clair Dems at 6:30pm on Monday in Port Huron.
WEDNESDAY: WALK IN MARYSVILLE EVENT IN MARYSVILLE @ 10AM

Kimberly will then be joining Tuscola Democratic Party Meeting in Caro, MI from 6:30 to 7pm

SATURDAY: HARVEST THE GRAPES EVENT AT BLUE WATER WINERY @ 8:30 AM
Kimberly supports local small businesses and agriculture here in the Thumb. She is honored to attend the annual Harvest at Blue Water Winery and Vineyards to talk about challenges and opportunities of COVID on small businesses. Recent changes in MLCC licensing allows small wine makers to open small Tasting Rooms in Off Premise locations.
