Chairman Cummings was my hero. As a Marylander, we have all been impacted by his courage and commitment to community. Whether it was standing up to Donald Trump, speaking truth to power about the death of Freddie Grey, or fighting for our values on issues like Medicare for All, Elijah represented more than just a single congressional district -- he represented progress and perseverance. It is hard to imagine Congress without him. This is why we should all take a minute to offer condolences, thoughts, and/or prayers to his family, and acknowledge all that he has given us.
