May 3, 2019

The Ideas for Action team has been incredibly busy working to review the over 3,100 amazing proposals we received this year from young innovators around the world.  We were thrilled to not only achieve a record number of proposals in 2019, but also a new record of global representation - with 142 countries and territories participating.  We will give a more detailed breakdown in the near future, but for now we would like to thank the more than 10,000 young people who participated, the incredible teams at the Ideas for Action Africa, Egypt and University of Pennsylvania clubs, as well as the hundreds of supporters around the world who contributed to this record breaking year!

While our team of sustainable development experts continues to review your submissions, we would like to report on several phenomenal events held at Wharton and the World Bank over the last few weeks.  We were honored and delighted to welcome the World Bank Group Senior Vice President for the 2030 Agenda, Mahmoud Mohieldin, as well as Firmenich CEO Gilbert Ghostine.  We are also thrilled to share a recent case study launched by Firmenich and Wharton's Zicklin Center for Business Ethics Research entitled "How innovation and partnerships can save lives: Firmenich’s positive contribution to the global sanitation crisis." We hope you will read this groundbreaking case study which we believe can be leveraged to add value to many of your incredible ideas, especially those related to the sanitation economy.  You can access the
press release or the case study directly and of course please also take a look at both blog posts below.

Be sure to stay tuned to I4A, as we we plan to announce the 2019 Regional Finalists within the next several weeks and notify the top teams shortly thereafter.

Thank you again for another record setting year, and - most importantly - for lending your passion and talents toward helping us all achieve the SDGs!

Sincerely,
The I4A Team
