"How do I share video," echoes across Discord.
"I can’t hear Jade," says one person.
"Oh, is that your favorite gemstone?" responds another
"Jade, is that a perm?" quips a familiar voice.
All the pandemic challenges of virtual meet-ups came right back to life and reminded us why you just can’t build relationships over the Internet like you can in the flesh.
John, an analyst at Broadstreet Bulls based in Regina, drove all the way out to Edmonton to meet our vibrant startup community. He stayed late into the night despite having to enjoy himself through fuzzy video feeds.
We did enjoy some uniquely virtual experiences:
Adrian from Cherry Health explained (with live hyperlinking and screen sharing) how NFTs are the new collectible sports cards or modern art collectors - how else can you explain why these .jpegs of a monkeys are now worth millions of dollars.
And our poetic former intern Ghalia stopped by to create a quick theme song with Damian - stay tuned for its imminent release!
As much as we loved [or didn't?] the virtual throwback party last week, we have some exciting news:
We’re back in person this week!!!!
We take social responsibility at Startup TNT very seriously.
We cannot build an awesome startup community without frequent, genuine, social interactions within our community.
We will follow all local and provincial guidelines to ensure we can enjoy each other’s company safely.
We are following the new restriction exemption program at Campio, Craft, and 9 Mile Legacy. Please review how it works. You will need to show the venue either a negative COVID test or proof of immunization to join us. Embrace the new guidelines and get ready to continue having fun, making friends, and building companies.
Special guest Amarjeet Sohi joins us in YEG this week.
Get vaccinated. Stay safe. And stay connected to your startup community.
