The first newsletter of 2018... a very belated happy new year! I have been busy visiting fairs in Paris and Frankfurt these past months. Always inspiring to see what the current trends are and it's good to get in contact with possible clients. Whenever I get the chance, I show my portfolio, for example with tea towel designs.
Of course I have been painting on a daily basis, primarily with water colour, my favorite medium. I love to apply it onto glassware, a good combination for watery flowers, I find. This is larkspur, a summer flower so we'll have to wait some time to see it in our gardens...
And here's another design with larkspur, combined with poppies and tulips, hand drawn and digitally coloured in. Which one do you like best, the coloured version or the duotone?
This year there will be three ceramics collections launched that I designed. This picture below with painted cherry blossom is not one of them - I can't show any images yet - but who knows I'll sell this design too some day.
And as you might know, I love botanical silhouettes, and incorporate them into my designs. Here are some examples with ferns and different kinds of leaves. They're based on photos I took, and pressed flowers I gathered.
Do keep an eye out for the Dutch magazine Libelle. In their lovely garden issue - out 13th of march - you'll find an interview with me plus many illustrations. I can't wait for spring and the garden season to start!
I'd love to tell you more about my designs. Please contact me if you would like to see designs in detail or have a look at mywebsite to see other work. Best regards, Dieuwertje.
