4-H students in the 4th-12th grades are invited to join the Forsyth County Extension staff for an exciting day of environmental education! On Wednesday, April 2, 2025, the 4-H staff will travel to Camp Wahsega, 77 Cloverleaf Trl, Dahlonega, GA 30533, to learn about herpetology and native wildlife. Transportation for the event is included. We will depart from our 5110 Piney Grove Road office at 8:30am and return around 4:45pm. Registration is OPEN NOW! Have questions? Reach out to us.

Our Spring judging teams will begin practicing the first week of March! Registration can be found HERE.

Poultry Judging: Monday nights 6PM-7:30PM
Poultry judging is a competitive event in which students learn and understand standards used in poultry, egg production, and marketing. They also learn to apply the standards in a realistic decision-making situation. During the contest, participants judge both live specimens and market poultry. They identify parts of birds already prepared for market and evaluate eggs as to their quality and readiness for market. For at least one class, typically a live production class, participants are asked to justify their placing decisions through a set of oral reasons.
Practices will be held weekly at the Forsyth County Extension office starting March 3 and will conclude with the district contest in Bartow County on April 25. If you have any questions about this team, please reach out to Ms. Heather.

Wildlife Judging: Tuesday nights 5:30PM-7PM
Wildlife Judging is an evaluation event where 4-H’ers learn about native wildlife. Topics include identifying different species, what they eat, where they live, and how to make a particular property desirable for a particular species. This event is great for any 4-H’er interested in animals and their habitats.
Practices will be held weekly at the Forsyth County Extension Office starting March 4 and conclude with the state contest at Rock Eagle 4-H Center on April 26. If you have any questions about the team, please reach out to Ms. MaKenzie.

6th - 8th graders are invited to the Northeast/Northwest District 4-H Junior Rally on April 26 - 27, 2025, at Wahsega 4-H Center!  We’ll have exciting things to do, like your choice of ropes course obstacles, talent show, dancing, campfire, s’mores, other exciting classes, community service projects, time in the falls (weather permitting), the annual glow-in-the-dark night egg hunt, plus plenty of time to hang out with all your friends from Northeast and Northwest Districts.  We hope you will join us!

Registration is $108.00 and includes transportation and insurance.  Registration will close on April 12, 2025. Register now! Have questions about this event? Please reach out to Ms. Heather.
