Beloved Friends & Family,

Greetings from my very own home office in Taos, New Mexico, where I have safely landed after almost 10 weeks on the road.  Actually, it’s my dogs’ office; they just let me work here ☺  The creatures are happy that I am home, and we have been busy reconnecting by taking walks together in the Talpa Foothills, where my soul is restored.  I’m amazed at how quickly and easily my energy is bouncing back after all that traveling and teaching and stepping up.  My conclusion is that I am being fed from an inner wellspring of sacred feminine waters.

I thought I’d recap some of the highlights of the book tour.  Feel free to skim right on down to upcoming events, reviews and interviews, and a couple of recommended books and happenings of my friends.

  • First ever book signing at Village Books in Bellingham, Washington, overflowing with passionate beings ready for the fierce & tender teachings of the feminine
  • Intimate retreat at Turtle Haven Sanctuary with circle of 30 deeply seasoned women mystics
  • 3-day solo writing hermitage in woods along the Noosak River where I wrote the New York Times article about my mom (published on Mother’s Day – link)
  • Writing workshop at Saint Mark’s Cathedral, historic social justice church in Seattle
  • Gathering at headquarters of SDI (Spiritual Directors International) in Bellevue, Washington, where I was put up in gorgeous Airbnb in tiny log cabin on shore of Lake Washington
  • Wild Mercy workshop on 40th floor of a downtown Vancouver hotel, overlooking Puget Sound
  • Pub Day!  FB Live hosted by my SDI friends, then off to a tiny town near the entrance of Mount Rainier National Park where my daughter Dani lives with her children, new husband & his children, & a sprawling clan of extended family, where we celebrated the publication of my new book at the local tavern where Dani tends bar & the whole community drifted in to say hello
  • 100+ people spilling into aisles of historic Banyen Books in Vancouver for Wild Mercy reading
  • Ganga Das flying into San Francisco to accompany me for last part of my West Coast Tour, including visits with extended family & my oldest friend, Tot, & her magical offspring
  • Overflowing crowd at Book Passage in Marin County, where a multitude of male spiritual leaders showed up in support of feminine wisdom: Matthew Fox, Shabda Kahn, Roger Housden, Frank Ostaseski, Gagan Levy
  • My hometown book launch at El Monte Sagrado Resort in Taos, where Wild Mercy cover artist, Erin Currier, made surprise appearance & spoke eloquently about intersection of art, activism & spirituality
  • Another sold-out event at abc home/Deepak Home Base in New York City, where Nina Rao opened with kirtan & old friends & long-lost relatives appeared to say hello
  • Guest tickets to a talk with Rabbi Tirzah Firestone & Gloria Steinem at 92nd Street Y, including private after-party
  • Wild Mercy House Party at home of Tim Shriver & Linda Potter in Washington, DC, packed with colorful & distinguished guests, where Tim walked me through his private collection of memorabilia of his famous godfather & uncle, JFK
  • Accompanying Tim (director of Special Olympics) to an inclusion event at local Maryland high school, marveling at the beauty of his interaction with the athletes and their loving support of one another
  • 3 days with my old friend & mentor, Asha Greer, near Charlottesville, NC, reconnecting with her daughters & nephews, who I grew up with, & their partners & children, who have all grown into extraordinary human beings
  • My birthday in Atlanta with dear old friends, Bob & Judy, featuring lox & bagels with candle in cream cheese, personal tour of the Carter Center guided his former daughter-in-law, & book signing at legendary Phoenix & Dragon
  • Workshop at Sophia Institute in historic Charleston, SC, staying at gracious home of Carolyn & Henk, where I recognized masthead Madonna from Secret Life of Bees in their living room & visited with soul-sister, Sera Beak
  • Visit with Way of the Rose founders, Clark & Perdita, at their home near Woodstock, where we encountered Mary/Quan Yin in a forest clearing, festooned with flowers, & also spent time with soul sister Elizabeth Lesser, founder of Omega
  • Adorable studio apartment at heart of West Village in Manhattan, courtesy of our friend Kate, where Jaime and I stayed on both ends of East Coast tour, eating at award-winning Emily’s 4 times, because Emily is also our friend!
  • Standing room only events in Santa Fe & Albuquerque, & also in Boulder, where my Sounds True Family also threw me a party at Pearl Street restaurant
  • Silent Retreat in partnership with James Finley, former novice of Thomas Merton, at Picture Rocks Monastery bordering Saguaro National Park in Tucson

Whew.  I am leaving out the names of most of people who took such incredible care of me wherever I went because I’d be up till dawn writing it all down and you’d be up for days reading it.  But you know who you are, and my gratitude is boundless.  Because of you, I return refreshed, filled with hope, ready now to release this book baby into the hands of the Universe.

A reminder of a couple of upcoming gatherings I’m excited about:

From the evening of June 16 to the morning of the 19th we are celebrating Wild Mercy at Ghost Ranch here in the high desert of New Mexico.  Special guest teachers from the book will be joining me for a rich couple of days of teachings, silence, song, hiking, and radical community-building. For more information and to register visit HERE.
Andrew Harvey will be visiting us in Taos from June 20-24.  We are hosting a book signing on the evening June 21 for Andrew’s new collection of Kabir poems, and then Andrew & I are teaching a daylong workshop on the poet mystics and sacred activism on June 22, with special guests Jenny Bird and Sean Murphy. Both events are held at Unity of Taos, where Andrew will also be guest speaker on the morning of June 23. For more information visit HERE.
On the morning of June 20, Vera de Chalambert joins me for a free online convo about the fierce and tender teachings of the women mystics, hosted by our friends at SAND (Science & Nonduality), to be followed in August by a 3-part in-depth webinar series. To learn more visit HERE.

Please please please read these 2 new books by a couple of my most awakened friends:

Finally, we leave you with:

Here is a review by renowned sacred musician, Benjy Werthheimer, in this month’s issue of LA Yoga.

Here's a podcast interview on Living From Happiness.

With love,

Mirabai

If Wild Mercy is resonating for you, would you be so kind as to post a review on Amazon?  That helps drive sales and get this little book into many more hands.
And please check out the new Daily Meditations by my friend and mentor, radically earth-centered theologian, Matthew Fox.
Check it out HERE.
