Polk County Democrats Social Event

Members of the Polk County Democratic Executive Committee (DEC) are invited to attend a private social gathering - "D" and A Dish!

Jensen's Corner Bar (100 3rd St SW, Winter Haven, FL 33880)
Date: December 1st, 2021
Time: 6-9 pm

Bring your Voter Registration card (to show your "D") and a Dish of food to share with others. Bring a friend or significant other. There will be a cash bar for drinks. Music entertainment will be provided by Acoustic Dose. Entrance is free for the event.

Attendance will be limited to a COVID safe level (so sign up now). There is an indoor bar area and an outdoor patio (where the food and music will be located) which will allow people to find their own distancing safety comfort level. Masking while socializing (and not eating or drinking) is encouraged.

Biden To Sign Infrastructure Bill Today

Piney Point Roundtable

The Florida Institute for Health Innovation is hosting a virtual Piney Point Roundtable Meeting from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Wednesday, November 17.

Meeting goals:
- Strengthen environmental health data use & capacity
- Identify, prevent, and control environmental health hazards
- Assess environmental health intervention effectiveness and impact.
- We hope that by bringing people together from various areas of work ideas will be shared and we can develop recommendations.

This workshop is for academics, journalists, and activists to discuss Piney Point, phosphogypsum, and potential hazard interventions.

Meet and register new voters at the Bartow Friday Fest. We will have a table and all materials you need. This is a fun, family event held the third Friday of the month in downtown Bartow from 6-9 pm.

Can you spare 1-2 hours or more between the hours of 9 am - 2 pm on a Saturday, each week or once a month? If so, please sign up to help the Polk County Democratic Party during the Lakeland Curbside Farmers Market. Click here for more information.

Florida Democrats Reschedule Leadership Blue 2021

Florida Redistricting: Proposals would place Polk County in new U.S. House district

Polk County would sit within a single, newly created congressional district under proposed plans released Wednesday afternoon by a Florida Senate committee.

The Redistricting Committee revealed four proposed congressional maps, and all four put Polk County inside the new District 28.

If one of the proposed maps were to take effect, Polk County would lose District 9, held by Rep. Darren Soto, D-Kissimmee, and District 17, held by Rep. Greg Steube, R-Sarasota. For full story, click here.
