2020 International Council Meeting

Registration has opened for the 2020 International Council Meeting! This year’s Meeting will be held virtually from Monday, Oct 12 to Friday, Oct 16 and will bring together global thought leaders to discuss how to build a post-pandemic economy and multilateral system.

Recent Highlights

BWC and IFI Leaders Reaffirm Commitment to Partnership

Bretton Woods Committee Leadership recently held productive meetings with World Bank President David Malpass, IMF Managing Director Kristalina Georgieva, and IMF FDMD Geoffrey Okamoto. Conversations spanned a range of policy issues, including re-building post-Covid, looming debt risks, climate change, corruption and transparency, and more. This was the beginning of a renewed partnership between our institutions and we look forward to deepening our engagement with the IFIs under BWC’s new leadership and strategic direction.
In Conversation: NY Fed Presidents on COVID19

On September 2, John C. Williams, President and CEO of the Federal Reserve Bank of New York, and William C. Dudley, former President of the New York Fed and member of the Bretton Woods Committee's Executive Committee, participated in a wide-ranging conversation with more than 250 attendees. The event provided a timely opportunity to discuss the Fed’s new monetary policy framework, its response to the novel coronavirus pandemic, and a range of other issues. Read more.

Mauro Guillen published a book, entitled 2030: How Today’s Biggest Trends Will Collide and Reshape the Future of Everything, that discusses coming global transformations and encourages leaders to adopt “lateral thinking” to prepare for these changes.
Maria Ramos and colleagues on the UN Secretary General’s Task Force on Digital Financing of the SDGs released a report that argues that digitalization provides a historic opportunity to reshape finance and achieve the SDGs.
Kevin Casas Zamora and colleagues at the International Institute for Democracy and Electoral Assistance launched a tool to monitor the impact of Covid-19 on democracy and human rights.
