Welcome to the July 2018 edition of Sajid Javid MP's newsletter
WELCOME
With last month's heatwave came positive economic news. At just 1.7%, the Claimant Rate in Bromsgrove has halved since 2010. As ever, there is more to do, but we should be proud of all that we have achieved.

This has been at the forefront of my mind during my recent visits to a plethora of local businesses.  It's clearer than ever that Bromsgrove business is not only flourishing, but continuing to contribute so much to our regional economy.

It's also been a busy month at the Home Office. A particular highlight for me was attending the Police Bravery Awards. I was completely overwhelmed by the inspirational stories of courage and sacrifice. Police men and women do our nation proud - putting their own safety at risk to protect the people of Britain. I salute every single one of you and I was honoured to be at such a poignant event.

Please do get in touch with my office on sajid.javid.mp@parliament.uk if I can be of any assistance.

Best wishes,

Sajid Javid
Member of Parliament for Bromsgrove
RECENT ACTIVITY
Ensuring that young people in Bromsgrove have access to the best possible education has always been a priority for me. I was therefore really pleased to meet with the talented Interim Head of North Bromsgrove School, Lee Gray to discuss his plans for the school.

It's great to see that the school is getting the support it needs, and I am fully behind Lee and his staff who are doing a brilliant job.
It was good to be in sunny Rubery a few weeks ago.  We had a really productive street surgery, so thank you to everyone who came down for a chat.
I was proud to cut the ribbon at the opening of RSM Partner's new HQ in Bromsgrove.

RSM is an impressive local business with a very talented team. It was good to meet the staff, and to see another example of an expanding company, with global reach, choosing Bromsgrove as its home.
Worcestershire Medal Service has recently been awarded the contract to be the dedicated provider of all MoD medals, except for the Victoria Cross. This is an incredible achievement for the WMS team.

WMS was founded by Phil in 1988 with just £120, via the Enterprise Allowance Scheme. They now hold one of the largest stocks of medals, miniature medals and ribbons of the UK and Commonwealth.

WMS are a brilliant example of a hard-working, local family business.
I was really pleased to meet with the new Chairman of Worcestershire Acute Hospitals Trust, Sir David Nicholson.

It is a top priority for me to ensure that my Bromsgrove constituents receive the best healthcare possible, so I was keen to seek assurances from Sir David that a plan is in place to lift the Trust out of Special Measures.

I will do all I can to support Sir David and his team on this improvement journey and as ever, if any of my constituents have any issues at all, please do get in touch.
I was pleased to cut the ribbon at the new Dream Doors showroom in Barnt Green.

I was told that business is flourishing, and with more than 80 sites across the UK, I'm delighted that the Bromsgrove branch is a leading example within the franchise.

Well done to Zoe and team and best of luck. Thanks for having me!
It was great to be back at Cafe Morso in Barnt Green last week.

I'm always grateful to constituents who stop for a chat, and to Cafe Morso for cooking up a champion lunch, as always.
14 year old Ellie Johnson has recently been selected to represent Bromsgrove at the 2019 World Scout Jamboree in America.

This 24th Annual Jamboree is so important in bringing the world Scouting community together in a celebration of cultural exchange, mutual understanding, peace, and friendship.

Ellie must raise £4,000 to attend, and after chatting to her about all of her community fundraising projects, I have no doubt that she will succeed.
