Together with Tanaka Farms, we hosted a Hello Kitty-themed workshop. Tanaka Farms provided fresh fruits and vegetables for participants to make Hello Kitty shaped rice balls.

In April we invited visitors to explore their culinary artistry by making their own onigiri at the Smithsonian Institute’s Freer and Sackler Galleries, in Washington, DC. The galleries are home to the country’s largest Asian art library and were the perfect location for this beautiful – and delicious! – workshop.

We were honored to participate in New York City’s Department of Education’s conference where we presented our curriculum on Japanese nutrition and eating practices. Health and physical education teachers experienced one session of our “Wa-Shokuiku” program. We are grateful for all the interest!

In celebration of Earth Day, we taught children about eco-friendly Japanese food practices at the Children’s Museum of Manhattan. Children learned about the concept of “mottainai” (a Japanese expression meaning “don’t be wasteful”) and the satisfaction and importance of packing your own lunch in a reusable box!
TFT Germany worked with 180 Degrees Consulting in Munich and Frankfurt to identify an implementation plan for TFT in Germany. 180 Degrees Consulting is the world’s largest volunteer consultancy. Eight young consultants worked, pro-bono, on market research and communication planning.
7garden, a Japanese real estate company, and TFT announced the opening of a "sustainable hostel" in the heart of Tokyo. Hostel guests will be invited to stay comfortably and promote sustainability by avoiding disposal items and reusing bath towels and sheets.
TFT held our annual conference in Tokyo, Osaka, and Nagoya. More than 200 people from supporting companies participated and enjoyed popular events including healthy salads tastings and selecting the best TFT menu.
"Onigiri Action 2018" Let's change the world with Onigiri! This year's theme is "Let's take Onigiri (Japanese rice balls) and go out!” More than 160,000 pictures were posted through last year’s social media campaign which led to the donation of 975,000 school meals.
Let's change the World with Onigiri! #OnigiriAction
Hello! I'm Hiromi Kobayashi.

I am a student intern at TFT, Tokyo. As you may already know Onigiri Action is taking place and I am thrilled to be a part of this important campaign. Making, eating, and taking photos of your onigiris is fun and memorable and doing so provides nourishing meals for hungry children. I am honored to be part of the campaign and I can’t wait to see everyone’s Onigiri Photos! Check out our Instagram account (@tablefor2_official) to see some Onigiri Photos!
