“[People] think of them as somehow being less than we are, intellectually,” anthropologist Carolyn Boyd says. “And it’s just not true. This rock art is clear evidence that it’s just not true. … They had a language far richer than our own when it comes to describing the stars and the landscape around them. … Same brain that put a man on the moon. They were just as cognitively capable as you and I. … At the end of the day, they are us.”
