I hope you had a very Happy Easter and that you enjoyed the break.
It’s been a busy few weeks. I’ve launched an ambitious national strategy to tackle the root causes of poor integration and bring divided communities together, I’ve addressed Parliament from the despatch box three times, led a debate in the House on anti-Semitism and set out a bold Government plan of action to significantly reduce rough sleeping.
As ever, if there is anything that I can do to help you, please do not hesitate to get in touch.
Kind regards,

Sajid Javid
Member of Parliament for Bromsgrove

Recently, the Prime Minister announced how the Government is rewriting planning rules to build the homes people need.
The Prime Minister was introduced by Bromsgrove local, Luke Coffey, winner of the 2017 RTPI Awards Young Planner of the Year Award. I was delighted that Luke’s efforts, and the work that he has been doing since winning the Award, has been recognised for a second time.
It was a great chance to celebrate Bromsgrove talent on a national stage.

A few weeks ago we celebrated the 10th National Apprenticeship Week. Apprenticeships provide life-changing opportunities for people of all ages and backgrounds. They also bring great benefits to employers in terms of a more skilled, productive workforce, helping businesses to grow and succeed.
I was lucky enough to have my own apprentice, Charlotte, on my team. Charlotte did a great job, particularly helping out at my record-breaking fourth annual Bromsgrove Jobs Fair.
The positive impact that apprenticeships have on individuals, businesses and the wider economy in the West Midlands and beyond is remarkable.

It was brilliant to meet up with my constituents, Penny & Wayne Church, in Parliament.
Before he passed away, their amazing son Finlay, raised over £100k for research into brain tumours. Finlay won the Pride of Birmingham Award Child of Courage and Midland Child of Courage and he became a Guinness World Record holder for a line of 15,534 Teddy Bears at Alvechurch Picnic in the Park in May 2015. It goes without saying that Finlay was a remarkable and brave little boy.
Penny and Wayne have carried on this vital work, and they continue to inspire so many others with Finlay's story.
Let’s do all we can to save more lives. You can read more about the hugely important work of the charity, Brain Tumour Research here.

I hosted my 8th Annual Schools Debating Competition. The Debating Competition brings together some of Bromsgrove’s brightest young minds to contend over the key contemporary issues that often fill my mailbox.
This year’s topics included the use of social media, turnout in elections and housing.
Congratulations to Mike and Henry from Hagley Catholic High School, who emerged from a closely fought final as the victors.
Thanks also to the judging panel: Tristan Harris, Editor of the Bromsgrove Standard, Rev Ray Khan of St John’s Church and Jo Slade, Vice Chair of Bromsgrove Society.

We had a great turnout for the Bromsgrove Business Lunch where we were joined by West Midlands Mayor, Andy Street.
Thank you to all the local businesses that came along.

It was great to spend the morning with pupils at Meadows First School.
With ‘Preparing for Life’ forming part of the school’s motto, it was fantastic to discuss democracy, and the role that the kids can play in their own School Council and wider community.

I had a great time with the kids at Lickey Hills Primary School recently.
The pupils grilled me on democracy in the UK and shared their ideas about British values.
It was a brilliant visit, thanks for inviting me!

I recently visited Bromsgrove artist, Kevin Williams' brilliant art exhibition; Saints & Sinners, at Bromsgrove Library. I was pleased to see that I made it onto the wall!
The exhibition has been so popular that it's been extended to run throughout April - I recommend you all go and visit.
Kevin's paintings are all for sale, with the majority of funds raised going to Acorns Children's Hospice.

It's great to see that HM Royal Marines Band will be performing on Thursday 26th April at the Chateau Impney, supported by the Alcester Male Voice Choir.
The concert is being hosted by the Tower Friends from St Michael and All Angels, Stoke Prior who have been working tirelessly to raise funds for the Church.
The funds are needed to repair the crumbling tower and for improving the access into the Church.
If you would like to support them and help safeguard our heritage please spread the word and join them on the evening for what will be a memorable concert.
If you can't make the concert but you would like to make a donation. Cheques should be payable to The SP Tower Fund and sent to Gary Stokes at 15, Bredon Road, Bromsgrove, Worcestershire, B61 7HD.
