CALL FOR PAPERS
Held every two years, the ITI Conference is the biggest event in the UK translation and interpreting calendar. With four tracks, including a dedicated interpreting track, keynotes, special guests, a gala dinner and social events over two days, it attracts over 300 delegates from all corners of the UK, Europe and beyond.
In 2019, the ITI Conference will go to Sheffield for the first time, in the magnificent historic setting of the Cutlers' Hall.
The conference theme ‘Beyond the core: forging the future of the profession' focuses on our strengths as professionals and the ways in which, individually and collectively, we can rise to future challenges.
Whether you work in translation, interpreting or any other field, if you have a relevant topic you would like to present on, we want to hear from you.
Topics of interest for presentations include but are not limited to:
- Translating & interpreting in different settings
- Translation & interpreting as a multi-faceted profession
- The new generation of professional translators and interpreters: opportunities and challenges
- Showcasing the profession
- Collaboration with peers
- Collaboration with other professions
- New ways of working
- Making the most of technology
- Turning technology challenges into opportunities
- Any other topic inspired by the theme
Proposals for the ITI Conference 2019 will be evaluated through a competitive peer-review process. Selected presenters will be rewarded with increased professional recognition and free entry to the conference.
Please note:
- Abstracts are being invited for 50-minute presentations (including Q&As) only. Proposals for workshops, masterclasses and shorter presentations will not be considered.
- The number of slots for panels and double acts is limited. You can maximize your chances of being selected by also submitting a proposal for a solo presentation.
- We can only accept a maximum of two proposals per speaker.
- Selected speakers are required to sign a speaker agreement. Please download and read this agreement before sending your proposal so you are fully aware of conditions and expectations.
- Proposals sent without using the submission form will not be considered.
