Hello, UCDS Alum and Families!
I'm Hannah Saraf, Moving On Class of 2016, and the incoming Alum Advisory Board Chair. Along with my co-chair, Abby Sanderson, Moving On Class of 2013, we work with a team of UCDS Alums to help keep us all connected to UCDS! The most exciting thing about this newsletter, in my opinion, are all of the great video testimonies from UCDS Alum around the world. Several UCDS Alum were highlighted in last year's Auction, and you can view their reflections by clicking the video links below.

As we start another school year and the seasons begin to change, if you're anything like me, you reminisce about UCDS. From Milk and Cookies, to Spring Trips and Math Vitamins, I still remember the excitement I felt learning at UCDS each day. UCDS helped shape me into who I am today, and I am forever grateful for the love of learning my teachers instilled in me. I miss walking onto campus and still wish I could go to school there!
Even though the world looks different right now, I'm hopeful for the future and know that UCDS Alums will be at the forefront of meaningful, impactful innovations to make the world a better place.

I wish you all the best this fall and hope you stay healthy and safe.

- Matlida Vary (Moving On Class of 2013) writes, "After taking a gap year, I am excited to be starting my freshman year at Yale College where I hope to study Mechanical Engineering and Astrophysics. During my orientation to campus, I got to do a backpacking trip along the Appalachian Trail, a trip that reminded me of all the long hikes to Marymere Falls while at OPI/NatureBridge. I am so grateful for all of the opportunities that UCDS gave me to explore the outdoors and connect my education with the world outside the classroom."

- David Brannon-Cirone (Mia [2013] and Ella [2015]) writes, "Both of our girls are now amazing, self-confident, civic-minded and passionate youth coming into their own. They continue to speak fondly of their time at UCDS and put into practice many of the life skills they learned at UCDS, ranging from; creative problem-solving, self-advocacy, collaboration on group projects and more. Seeing Mia and Ella's unique lights shine from these skills is one of the many reasons why our family continues to give back in time and treasure where we can, helping to leave the UCDS community stronger for the next generation. Last year, I had the good fortune of popping by campus during the school's Covid-era Pop-Up Flower Shop and was reminded of all the good that UCDS students, faculty, staff and parents create in the world. Keep on shining, everyone!"
- Kathleen Colleran (Emily [2014] and Joe [2016]) writes, "UCDS holds a special place in our hearts. Every day the faculty inspired our children to learn in a fun, creative and challenging environment. Emily and Joe have wonderful memories and remain in touch with many of their classmates. And while our children were busy growing at UCDS, Bill and I were making lifelong friends. We're honored to still be active members of this amazing community."
