2018 International Council

On October 10, 2018, the Bretton Woods Committee held its annual International Council meeting in Bali, Indonesia, part of the Bretton Woods@75 Global Dialogue series, alongside the International Monetary Fund and World Bank Group Annual Meetings. An esteemed group of global leaders joined approximately 60 Committee members and friends in an intimate roundtable discussion. This year’s conversation – Modernizing Multilateralism: Leadership for the Next Generation – examined the current and future forces shaping the global economy and discussed ways the multilateral system and institutions can be modernized to meet the demands of the next generation. As part of the broader Bretton Woods@75 dialogue, the Bretton Woods Committee has launched the Bretton Woods@75 blog which seeks to gather perspectives on past, present, and future issues impacting the Bretton Woods architecture, institutions, and Committee.

Committee members are invited to submit their thought leadership to this dialogue via blog essays. Submissions will be published online as part of the Bretton Woods@75 blog, as an appendix in the Bretton Woods@75 Compendium, and spotlighted across the Committee’s social media platforms. Member Spotlight

The Bretton Woods Committee would like to congratulate the following members on their recent achievements!

C. Fred Bergsten, Senior Fellow and Director Emeritus at the Peterson Institute, was recently reappointed by President Trump for another four-year term to the White House Advisory Committee for Trade Policy and Negotiations.
Vartan Gregorian, President of Carnegie Corporation of New York, was presented an Honorary Doctorate from King’s College London for his longstanding support of the College’s international programs. 
Vernon E. Jordan, Jr., Senior Counsel at Akin Gump Strauss Hauer & Feld LLP, received the EDGE Heritage Award from the Council on Legal Education Inc., for his work in helping bring diversity into the legal profession.
Roger Latchman, Executive Chairman at Maruti Global, was awarded the Ulaga Thamizhar Maamani award in India by the World Tamil Economic Foundation for his contribution towards poverty alleviation and job creation programs.
Manisha Singh was recently designated as Acting Under Secretary for Economic Growth and the Environment as well as Privacy Shield Ombudsman.
