Takeout & A Movie Trailer / Filmed By Bike Adventure Shorts

TAKEOUT & A MOVIE FUNDRAISER

The Oregon Hospitality Foundation is hosting its popular Takeout & A Movie fundraiser Sunday July 26th in support of Cycle Oregon and the Cycle Oregon Fund. Grab takeout from your favorite local spot, watch a collection of great adventure films from the comfort of your own home, and raise money for the hospitality businesses in rural communities that depend on tourism. This month’s film is the Adventure Shorts program from the Filmed by Bike film festival.

Proceeds from the event will benefit the Cycle Oregon Fund and the Oregon Hospitality Foundation.

After the movies, stay tuned for a round table discussion with special guests including Cycle Oregon Executive Director Steve Schulz.

MY FAVORITE ROUTE - MEGAN MOSELEY

Cycle Oregon's My Favorite Route series continues on our blog with Megan Moseley’s look back at the 2019 Classic. The founder of Portland-based Bodywise Physical therapy, Megan has been a supporter of Cycle Oregon since 2008 serving on our team as Physical Therapist. Like so many great ride memories, her favorite day is much more than the pedaling. In her look back at Day 3 of the 2019 Classic, Megan introduces us to the Cycle Oregon riders, volunteers, and community members who shine brightly. Click here to read her story on our blog.

Cycle Oregon entered a team in The Street Trust’s annual Bike More Challenge and finished just off the top step of the podium. Our crew of staff, board members, and long-time volunteers took second place in our division and though our points total was less than first place we would like to note that we rode waaaay more miles. Kudos to team captain Miranda Wigginton, our Customer Service & Volunteer Manager, for building this super squad and encouraging us throughout the month.
NOSSA FAMILIA SPECIAL OFFER

Nossa Familia is family run, farm direct, bike friendly, and a Certified B Corporation - Oregon’s first coffee roaster to achieve this distinction- and they’ve been rolling in support of Cycle Oregon since 2005. Use the code NOSSACO2020 when shopping online and you will receive 15% off your order plus Nossa Familia will make a 5% donation back to Cycle Oregon. Valid now through the end of September.

Pro Tip: Steeped Single-Serve Coffee Packs are ideal for summer camping.

The Corvallis to the Sea Trail (C2C)  is an approximately 50-mile alignment of county and private roads mixed with multi-use paths and forest trails that connects downtown Corvallis to the Pacific Ocean. A last-minute re-route by the coast has postponed the full grand opening though the eastern half is properly signed and open. We took our gravel bikes out for a look and came back thrilled. New on our blog is a photo series and brief report from the ride.

SHOWERS PASS DISCOUNT CODE

Showers Pass has a fantastic new collection of summer riding apparel and they’ve given us an online shopping discount offer to share with Cycle Oregon friends and fans. From July 9th through July 27th, use the code 20CycleOR and get 20% off online purchases at their online store

Pro Tip: Showers Pass Merino tops work great for summer rides that begin in cool mornings and finish in late afternoon sun. Plus, they look good off the bike, too. Be sure to read their “Why is Merino Wool Great for Outdoor Activities” blog post for a great explanation of this amazing natural fiber.

OFFICE MOVE & GARAGE SALE

We’re closing our office to reduce costs and consolidating equipment from the garage here to our main warehouse at the end of July. As part of this transition we’ve uncovered a few odds-n-ends that won’t be making the move and we’re hosting a garage sale on Thursday, July 23rd from noon until 6:00 p.m.

Masks are required for all guests and we’ll make sure to space items in accordance with social distancing requirements and convenient browsing in mind. Items to be included are Cycle Oregon event apparel, miscellaneous memorabilia pieces, artwork, shelving, and more. We’ll post specific items on social media as the sale approaches. Cash or check preferred, please.

GRAVEL BIKE GOLDEN SPIKE
Oregon based designer, creator, and "luxury gravel" aficionado Dustin Klein puts an interesting spin on riding “solo together” in this fun-to-watch gravel riding video. Starting from the same point with friend Ron Lewis but going in opposite directions on one of their favorite loops, the two riders share their thoughts throughout the day with a ceremonial golden spike meeting somewhere in the middle of it all. Leave it to Dustin to keep finding ways to put a positive spin on things these days.
