Spring 2021 Update

More Property Owners and Managers Get Out Front of Emerging Bold Climate Targets

We’re already seeing a strong uptake in the second year of the Building Benchmark BC pilot project; this week, we were delighted to welcome Vancity Credit Union to the program! We also expect to soon announce several more participating jurisdictions from across the province.

Speaking of which, do you own or manage a larger property? If so, check out the first Annual Report to learn why energy and emissions reporting and disclosure could give you a strategic edge when new regs come along.

Nova Scotia Poised to Unlock the Power of Benchmarking with GRID

Nova Scotia building owners and managers will soon have one-click access to detailed information on how their buildings are performing, helping them lower their properties’ greenhouse gas emissions.

They will do so because we recently licensed our GRID benchmark and disclosure software to EfficiencyOne—the non-profit organization operating in Nova Scotia as Efficiency Nova Scotia. (Read more)

Backstage at Building Benchmark BC

Did you know? The OPEN Technologies GRID platform does the heavy lifting behind the scenes at Building Benchmark BC. Our software syncs a widely used  enterprise data platform with ENERGY STAR Portfolio Manager to manage building attribute and utility data, and generate performance reports that help populate the Building Benchmark BC database.

We’re Growing

We’re pleased to welcome two new faces to the OPEN Technologies squad:
At the end of April, Justine Wiklo came aboard as Business Development Coordinator. She’s a recent graduate of the Sustainable Business Leadership program at the British Columbia Institute of Technology. She brings a strong background in sustainable business strategy and operations to our work supporting building owners through the low-carbon transition.
In March Carol Gomez joined us as a Quality Assurance Analyst, to ensure our software runs at peak performance. When not stamping out digital bugs or helping our software users input their building performance data, she meditates and works out. She is keen to be working for OPEN Technologies and supporting clients and customers through the shift to high-performance, low carbon buildings.
We’re also hiring a Product Manager and Web Development Team Lead. Details here!
