Hey there,
Happy New Year's Eve! We hope you're celebrating with friends and family or are content and happy doing whatever it is you're doing. We consider you part of the Status Coup family and we're so grateful for you.
Many people take the time to reflect this time of year, and I have to say that we've done some BADASS reporting in 2019. We're a small startup, but with your support, we've reported all over the country (and Canada and London!) on the stories that matter most to everyday people.
Here's a look back at some of our reporting. We've:
- Critically covered Trump and the false assumptions of his supporters
- Covered some shakeups in the progressive media sphere
- Covered the atrocious treatment of Julian Assange and Wikileaks
- Covered Jeffrey Epstein, the disgusting things he and those in his orbit did, and his highly suspicious death
- Covered the murder of Black Dallas resident Botham Jean and the subsequent coverup by Dallas Police
- Covered polling and media shenanigans when it comes to reporting on Bernie and the 2020 Democratic primary
- Reported on the campaign trail for Bernie, Tulsi, Biden, Warren, and More
- Interviewed progressive heavyweights like Nina Turner, Cornel West, Danny Glover, Jill Stein, Kshama Sawant, and More
- Reported on Venezuela coup protests
- Interviewed progressive independent journalists like Ben Norton, Rania Khalek, Jamarl Thomas, Max Blumenthal, Jimmy Dore, and More!
- Covered Newark, New Jersey's water lead crisis
- Covered Flint, Michigan's ongoing water lead crisis and local corruption, challenging congressmen, and breaking stories
- Covered the NHS and elections in London
- Covered the homelessness crises in Seattle, WA, Vancouver, Canada, and around the country and world
- Covered the truth about Mayor Pete Buttigieg and the plight of Black and brown people as well as the homeless in South Bend, Indiana
- Reported on Detroit, Michigan's water crisis and laws that deliberately oppress Black people
This is by no means a comprehensive list of everything we've covered this year—it would take days to list it all. Looking back, we're proud of what we've accomplished. We are achieving our mission of giving the microphone back to the people all across the country and beyond.
Here's a glimpse of all the places we've traveled in-field:

Again, there's NO way we could have done this without you. We are funded by the people, for the people. Status Coup's funding comes right from you—from our successful GoFundMe fundraiser to people giving via PayPal, to our Patreon and our Status Coup membership, we can't express enough how much your support meant to us in 2019.
It's expensive to travel in-the-field. We think there's a lot of value in giving political and societal commentary from a studio, but our mission is different. We get out there where the people are, shining a light on stories that would otherwise go uncovered. We dig into corruption—and soon, we will have a BIG story coming out in an outlet you're very familiar with. We can't give more details right now (you don't want to hint at what you're doing to those in power...), but we definitely couldn't have done this investigation without you.
You are AMAZING. So, today, on this last day of 2019, I say with a full heart, THANK YOU!
Status Coup has even bigger things planned for 2020. We want to go to more places, give the microphone to more people, break more stories about the corrupt and evil, and do more good in the world through our journalism.
As always, please keep sharing our content. It's no secret that we are dealing with an unprecedented level of suppression and we rely on word of mouth to get the word out there.
If you're someone who knows of those who'd be interested in investing in or funding progressive in-the-field and investigative journalism, please help connect us! We have investment opportunities for progressives who believe in real journalism.
If you're someone who is able, we'd love it if you become a member for extra bonus content or even donate via GoFundMe (it still allows you to donate though we met the initial goal) or PayPal.
There are also opportunities to donate memberships to those who are unable to afford it. If you would like to be gifted a membership, please email us. If you're able to gift membership (or multiple memberships) to others, please email us as well.
May your New Year's Eve be spectacular and your 2020 even better.
We LOVE you guys.
~
