MY FAVORITE ROUTE - DUSTIN KLEIN

Cycle Oregon's My Favorite Route series continues on our blog with a ride through Tygh Valley and the foothills of Mt Hood as seen by Dustin Klein. We take a little detour off Classic pavement to look back at GRAVEL Day 1, 2019 with words, photos, and video by the Portland-based artist, designer, and YouTube content creator. Dustin puts you at the center of the full experience of a Cycle Oregon event in this fun look back. Click here to read on our blog.

Be sure to bookmark the Cycle Oregon Blog in your browser. We're adding new content regularly and capping off each week with a fun wrap-up of interesting bike news from all over that we call Freewheelin' Friday.
NOSSA FAMILIA SPECIAL OFFER

Nossa Familia Coffee has been a part of Cycle Oregon since 2005 and they are offering Cycle Oregon riders and friends a special deal on the delicious coffee we enjoy at our rides. Use the code NOSSACO2020 when shopping online and you will receive 15% off your order plus Nossa Familia will make a 5% donation back to Cycle Oregon.

Valid now through the end of September! This offer can be combined with their free shipping over $25 deal with code FREESHIP25. (Enter each code separately, please, at checkout.)

Nossa Familia is a Certified B Corporation; the first coffee roaster in Oregon to achieve this status. Please support their commitment to sustainability, community, and cycling; we look forward to when we can all raise a cup together soon.

PHOTO TIPS FROM METTLE CYCLING

Mettle Cycling is an Oregon-based brand making small batch accessories for cycling and photography. Randall Fransen founded the company, makes much of the gear himself, and runs an amateur racing squad with a mission to increase diversity and inclusivity in cycling. He and the squad take lovely photographs as they ride throughout Oregon so we asked for advice on the sometimes challenging art of photography by bike.

New on our blog today is a full feature story with advice and inspirational images from Randall and Mettle. Click here to see the full story.

MARK BOSWORTH FUND 2020 RIDERS

The Mark Bosworth Fund has announced the 2020 recipients of their Cycle Oregon Full Grant. Now in its 7th year, this scholarship covers event registration, Tent + Porter fees, and incidental travel costs for first-time riders interested in riding the Cycle Oregon Classic. The fund was created in honor of Mark Bosworth- beloved father, husband, mentor, teacher, and avid cyclist.

Danielle Walsh (Yachats, top left), Kerstin Maroney (Portland, top right), Jenifer McAlexander (Eugene, bottom left), and Jennifer Justus (Portland, bottom right) have been selected by the fund’s board of directors and we look forward to welcoming them on the road and in camp at our next Classic ride.

2020 CANCELLATION REFUND UPDATE

We will begin processing refunds on May 20 and expect the process to be complete within 30 days. Refund will be processed back to the credit card used to register for the event. If you have a question about the status of your refund, please contact us at info@cycleoregon.com or visit our FAQ page.

If you would like to support Cycle Oregon during these uncertain times, and, in turn, support Oregon’s rural communities, which are being hit hard economically by the pandemic, you may convert all or a portion of your refund to a donation. To convert your refund, click here by Tuesday, May 26.

Other ways to help:

  1. Donate directly to Cycle Oregon operations. Doing so will help us continue operating during these uncertain times, and, in turn, support Oregon’s rural communities, which are being hit hard economically by the pandemic. To make a donation, please click here

  2. Donate to the Cycle Oregon Fund, which is a tax-deductible donation. (Since the Cycle Oregon Fund was established in 1996, we have awarded more than 325 grants totaling $2.3 million to communities and organizations throughout the state.)

  3. Plan a future visit to one of Oregon’s world-class cycling destinations. (Gift certificates to small businesses in these places are also a great way to help out.)
