The Food Bank was notified by Bobo’s on Dec. 14 of a voluntary recall of its peach oat bars because they may contain undeclared coconut.
The Loveland company said in a notice that “product containing coconut was distributed in packaging that did not reveal the presence of coconut on the ingredient deck.”
This, the Bobo’s notice said, poses the risk of an allergic reaction to those who have an allergy or severe sensitivity to tree nuts.
After receiving the notice, the Food Bank immediately took action to isolate the product and notify clients and partners of the recall. Food Bank staff will sort through its Bobo’s products to ensure none of this item is being distributed. We will still distribute other BoBo’s items not in the recall. The peach oat bars are still edible if the consumer doesn’t have a coconut or tree allergen.
It was determined that an assortment of Bobo’s oat bar flavors were distributed to our Loveland Fresh Food Share and the following: the Junior League, school partners, Kids Pak; and our mobile pantries. The Fort Collins Fresh Food Share did not receive any of the bars.
The bars are 3 ounces and were distributed as a single bar or in a box of 12, with the UPC code: 829262000203. The lot code found on a stamp on the front of the bar is 3J27111, Best By 7/23/24. These wrapped bars can also be found in cartons with lot codes: 3J21111 or 3K01111 with best by dates of 7/17/2024 and 7/28/2024 respectively.
If you or someone in your household have a coconut sensitivity or allergy, please do not eat this product.
