WATER SECURITY REQUIRES INCLUSIVENESS

World Water Week 2019 will highlight the increasing importance of inclusiveness in global water development. From working to include women in planning for water security in Cambodia to working with farmers in Kenya and Tanzania to preserve shared waterways, read about the ways the Sustainable Water Partnership is advancing the goal of water for all.

MODELING THE MARA

In the Mara River Basin, SWP and the Stockholm Environment Institute (SEI) are bringing data to bear to protect a crucial, at-risk water source for farms, villages and ecosystems.

OVERCOMING CRISIS

The ability of vulnerable populations to overcome shocks and stressors is nearly always tied to water security -- or its absence. Planning ahead to incorporate water security into resilience practices is increasingly important to development work, experts said at a recent panel.

SAVE THE DATE

The Sustainable Water Partnership (SWP) will co-host a panel, "The Role of Water Security in the Journey to Self-Reliance," on September 30 from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. at the Wilson Center in Washington, D.C. Panelists will discuss the impact of market-based solutions and private sector engagement in strengthening the management of water resources. The panel is the third of three events exploring how water security impacts other aspects of international development.
