Our expert judges along with oikos student members and alumni reviewed outstanding submissions and awarded prizes to 3 cases that explored the future of urban bicycle delivery, tackled the issue of over-tourism, and chronicled the innovation in bio-digester technology in Mexico. LEAP Meeting 2019: What is leadership, anyway?
Over 65 oikos members, alumni, and partners from 24 cities gathered together in Leysin, Switzerland, from 25th to 31st October 2019. The goal of the meeting was clear-cut - to share knowledge, exchange ideas, develop new partnerships and above all, inspire each other to lead change. The main task of the participants? 30 seconds with Stephen Snider
Stephen Snider is a student at Harvard. A random Instagram post brought him to oikos and inspired him to start a chapter in Boston, USA. He already teamed up with us and organized a join oikos-Harvard e-conference. In October, he also joined oikos members at the LEAP Meeting 2019.

Alumni Portrait: Yoon-Joo Jee
Just a few years ago Yoon-Joo Jee was an active oikos member in Lille, France. Today she is a successful social entrepreneur. Yoon-Joo co-founded “Snowball Effect”, a social enterprise that aims to make impactful solutions go viral through effective replication.
“We know solutions exist to tackle the world’s biggest issues. The problem is that they stay at a local scale and are not replicated enough to address a similar issue elsewhere.” - said Yoon-Joo. The Financial Times Measures Social Impact of Universities Worldwide
The Financial Times set to identify the best practice examples of ethics, social purpose, and sustainability in business schools and universities worldwide. They asked higher education institutions to share their initiatives and activities that were launched with an aim to create a greater social impact. A panel of experts that included oikos International - represented by oikos President Clementine Robert, and Curriculum Research Manager J.Christopher Proctor - compiled a list of impactful initiatives that could inspire academics, students, university management and others across the globe.
